Therapy with Adolescents
Adolescence generally describes the stage of development that transitions from childhood to young adulthood.
This stage of development can often come with experiences and challenges such as:
- Puberty: biological changes, changes in physical appearance and relative comfort or discomfort with these changes.
- Body image
- Self-esteem
- Feeling misunderstood
- Forging a sense of identity
- The increased importance of peer relationships
- Social pressures: Wanting to "fit in"
- Bullying
- Academic pressure
- Conflict with parents
- Conflict with teachers
These are some of the themes that emerge in therapy with adolescents.
